Joseph Mizrahi

Joseph Mizrahi received the B.S. degree in aerospace engineering in 1967, the M.S. degree in mechanics in 1970, and the D.S. degree in biomechanics in 1975, all from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel. He is a Professor of biomedical engineering at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Technion, and is the incumbent of the Pearl Milch Chair of Biomedical Engineering Sciences and Fellow of the AIMBE. For 18 years, he was also the Head of the Biomechanics Laboratory at the Loewenstein Rehabilitation Center in Israel. He held visiting positions at several universities, including Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (1975-1978), Harvard (1989/90), Cape Town (1991), Hong Kong Polytechnic (1998/99), and Drexel (2010). During the years from 2004 till 2009, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Technion. Other academic responsibilities included memberships in the Technion Senate Steering Committee and the Technion Senate Committee for Undergraduate and Graduate Sudies. He is principal author of some 250 publications, including journal papers, books, book chapters, and conference proceedings, and he holds several editorial responsibilities. Mizrahi?s major research interests are rehabilitation engineering and orthopedic biomechatronics.
