María Carmen Yebra received the B.S. degree in chemistry in 1987 from the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), Santiago de Compostela, Spain and the Ph.D. degree in chemistry by the same university with a Doctorate Award (1993). She was a Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, University of Córdoba, Córdoba, Spain (1992-1993). Yerba has been the Head of the Research Team “Group of analytical chemistry, automation, simplification, environmental and biological samples” at the University of Santiago de Compostela since 1998, author or coauthor of 90 scientific articles, 6 chapters of books (including one in the Encyclopedia of Analytical Science), and a book titled Flow Injection Analysis of Marine Samples, Coordinator of research Spanish scientific projects, and supervisor of doctoral thesis. She has been awarded the Investigation Prize 2007 of the Royal Galician Academy of Sciences. Yerba has been the Secretary of the Faculty of Chemistry (USC) since 2010. Her areas of Interest include flow injection analysis (FIA): automatization and miniaturization of the analytical process, nonchromatograhic continuous separation techniques, development of analytical automatic methodologies for the determination of trace metals by spectroscopic techniques in environmental and food samples, development of analytical automatic methodologies for the indirect determination of anions and organic compounds by spectroscopic techniques in environmental and food samples, quality, environment, and occupational risk prevention management, development of graphical methods for the deductive study of the chemical equilibrium using computer tools, multimedia methodology for teaching analytical chemistry by training with tutored autolearning, and didactic tools for teaching analytical chemistry.
