Paulo Ribeiro-Claro was born in 1960. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Aveiro, Aveiro, Portugal, and a Member Associate Laboratory Centre for Research in Ceramics and Composite Materials (CICECO). He got his first degree in Chemistry in 1984 and the Ph.D in molecular structure in 1987 at the University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal, and “Agregação” in Chemistry in 2007 at the University of Aveiro, Aveiro, Portugal. He is author and co-author of ca. SCI 110 papers and co-author of a text book for university students. Scientific interests – Paulo Ribeiro-Claro is interested in “Molecular and Supramolecular Structure”, with particular emphasis to C-H...O hydrogen bonds, cyclodextrin inclusion compounds, and polymorphism, studied by computational and spectroscopic methods. He is currently engaged in the development of a combined spectroscopic and computational approach as a tool for structure elucidation of complex materials. Other interests – Also interested in Public Awarness of Science activities, being responsible for the Portuguese Chemistry Olympiads since 2000, the chemistry activity “Química por Tabela” for FÁBRICA Science Center (2008 and 2011), and is coordinator of the media project “The Chemistry of Things” (2011-2012).
