Yiannis Tsompanakis

Yiannis Tsompanakis has obtained his Diploma of civil engineering and his Ph.D. degree in computational mechanics from the Department of Civil Engineering National Technical University of Athens. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Sciences of the Technical University of Crete, Greece, where he teaches structural and computational mechanics as well as earthquake engineering lessons. His scientific interests include computational methods in engineering, structural optimization, probabilistic mechanics, and the application of artificial intelligence methods in engineering problems. As an internationally recognized Researcher in these topics, Dr. Tsompanakis has published more than 25 journal papers, over 90 international conference papers, 10 book chapters, 5 edited books, and 2 conference proceedings. He has also prepared special issues in journals and organized several conferences, special sessions, and minisymposia. He is a reviewer in many archival scientific engineering journals and a member of the editorial board of scientific journals.
