Er-Qing Wei, Ph.D., professor and director in Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University. Professor Wei is now a member of council, Chinese Pharmacological Society; vice director, Section of Neuropharmacology, Chinese Pharmacological Society; president, Zhejiang Pharmacological Society, China. His research interests are: (1) Brain injury, including pathological, physiological, biochemical and pharmacological researches for the mechanisms and treatments of ischemic stroke, traumatic brain injury, and brain tumors. (2) 5-Lipoxygenase and cysteinyl leukotriene receptor, especially in their implications in brain injury, functional regulations in central nervous system, and the possibility that they are the targets for therapeutic drugs. (3) Drug discovery, focusing on the agents for the treatment of brain injury, and on 5-lipoxygense inhibitors and the antagonists of cysteinyl leukotriene receptors. Professor Wei has edited and published the following books: Advances in Pharmacology: Signals, Protein Factors, Genes and Modern Pharmacology (1st Edition, in Chinese). Beijing: Science Press, China, 1999; Biomedical Research: General Knowledge and Skill (1st Edition, in Chinese). Beijing: Science Press, China, 2001; English Writing Course of Biomedical Research Papers (2nd Edition, in Chinese with English examples).
