Maria Hartmanova was born in 1940 in Bratislava, Slovakia. She finished her study at Comenius University in 1962 in the field of experimental physics with degree RNDr. degree. In 1969 and 1982, she obtained the Ph.D. and D.S. degrees, respectively. She is working at the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Institute of Physics, Slovakia from 1962 up to now. Her fields of interest are solid-state physics: ionic and superionic crystals, ceramics and thin films, oxide systems, electrical properties, and mechanical properties. Moreover, she has more than 100 registered scientific papers and more than 300 registered references. She also authored a book entitled Ionic Crystals<\i> (in Slovak) in 1978 and had been invited to give many lectures at scientific conferences and institutes.
