Antonio Marcos Orsi

Antonio Marcos Orsi was born in 1947, São Paulo, Brazil. He received an M.B.S. degree from the Medical and Biological School of Botucatu (FCMBB), DP, Brazil, in 1970. Afterwards, he did postgraduate studies at São Paulo University Medical School at Ribeirao Preto (USP-RP) from 1972 to 1976. During the postgraduate program in Ribeirao Preto, an M.S. degree (1974) and a Ph.D. degree (1976) in cell and tissue biology throughout a continuous flux of studies were obtained. A postdoctoral thesis of an intermediate lecturer capacitating degree was conducted in 1979. Afterwards, he received the title of an Associate Professor of anatomy. The start for his scientific initiation was taken in 1969 as a Fellowship of the Microbiology Department of UNESP/Bo, through an initiation stage of studies and technical formation in bacteriology directed by Professor Antonio Fernando de Castro, an Associate Professor of USP São Paulo (collaborator at Botucatu-UNESP). Moreover, from 2004 to 2009, he acted as a Titular Member in 18 Thesis Judgment Commissions, as a Referee (specialist for peer review analysis), comprising works realized at postgraduate level, in two campuses of UNESP: in Campus of Campinas (UNICAMP) and in Campus of São Paulo from the Federal University of São Paulo (EPM-UNIFESP), SP, Brazil. From 2005 (January) to 2009 (January), he acted as a scientific Referee of 13 papers submitted to publish in some Brazilian periodicals comprising the Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Research and Animal Sciences and the Brazilian Journal of Biology. In addition, Orsi received Renato Locchi Prize, Federal University of São Paulo (Brazil), on the base scientific production in anatomy, in 1986, 1994, and 2002, Doctor Rafael Clavier Perez Prize in 1995 and Professor Alfonso Bovero Prize in 2008 were awarded.
