Deliang Zhou is currently a Principal Research Scientist in the Oral Drug Product group at AbbVie, North Chicago, IL. He obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from Nankai University, M.S. in Polymer Chemistry from Peking University, and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from University of Minnesota. Deliang started his industrial career in Pharmaceutics R&D at Boehringer-Ingelheim, Connecticut as a preformulation scientist. He joined in the Pharmaceutical Division at Abbott Laboratories (Now AbbVie) and remained there since 2004. Deliang’s industrial experiences span from preformulation, formulation/process development, to technology transfer and manufacturing support. His research interests include solid-state characterization, physical stability of amorphous systems, kinetics/mechanisms of solid-state reactions and excipient compatibility, delivery of poorly water-soluble compounds and controlled release. He was awarded the Ebert Prize in 2006 and the AAPS Pharmaceutical Research Meritorious Manuscript Award in 2012.
