Kin Tak Lau

Kin Tak Lau serves as the Executive Director of the Centre for Excellence in Engineered Fibre Composites (CEEFC), Faculty of Engineering and Surveying, the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. He has extensive research track record in smart composites, biocomposites, FRP for infrastructure applications and nanocomposites. He serves as a Member of the European Academy of Sciences with the citation “for profound contributions to materials science and fundamental developments in the field of composite materials” in 2007. Up to date, Professor Lau has published over 200 scientific and engineering articles (in SCI list) and his publications have been cited over 1360 times since 2002. Before he joined CEEFC, he served as a Professor of mechanical engineering, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Based on his outstanding research achievement, he has received the Best Paper Awards on Materials (1998), the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship Award (2000), Young Scientist Award (2002), Young Engineer of the Year Award (2004), Faculty Outstanding Award for Research and Scholarly Activities (2005), Award for Outstanding Research in Nanocomposites for Space Applications, USA (2006), Chemical Physics Letters, Most Cited Paper 2003- 2007 Award and Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology at the 20th International Conference on College Teaching and Learning, USA (2009). He serves also the Winner of the Ernest L. Boyer International Award for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Technology, in the same conference. Currently, he has served as Editor and Associate Editor of many international journals. He was also the founding Chairman of the International Conference on Multifunctional Materials and Structures.
