Vladimir Bajic obtained D.Eng.Sc. (1989, University of Zagreb), M.E.Eng.Sc.(1978), and Grad.E.E.(1976) degrees from University of Belgrade. He worked in several institutions and companies in Yugoslavia, South Africa, Singapore and Saudi Arabia. He is Professor of Applied Mathematics and Computational Science and Director of Computational Bioscience Research Center (CBRC) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia. He was a Professor of Bioinformatics in the South African National Bioinformatics Institute (SANBI), University of the Western Cape, and the recipient of the (Tier 1) DST/NRF South African Research Chair in Bioinformatics and Human Health. Bajic is a Member of the Academy of Nonlinear Sciences (Russia) and was a member of several others scientific and professional organizations. His current research interest is in development of platforms for (i) facilitating biological discoveries by the use of sophisticated bioinformatic systems combined with methods of data modeling; (ii) life science knowledge discovery; (iii) large-scale data integration; (IV) life science text and data mining; (V) toxicogenomics, biochemoinformatics, and pharmacognosy.
