Bertram Brenig

Bertram Brenig was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Edinburgh in 1987, at the Institute of Immunology, University of Munich, in 1988, and at the Institute of Molecular Animal Breeding, University of Munich, during 1989–1991. He was also a junior group leader at Max-Planck-Institute for Biochemistry, Martinsried, Munich, during 1992–1993, and a Full Professor and Director at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine, University of Goettingen, in 1993. Dr. Brenig obtained the Innovation Prize of the University of Goettingen in 2000, the Prize of the Innovation-Capital Goettingen GmbH in 2001, and Stockmeyer Science Prize in 2006. He was a President of the International Society for Animal Genetics ISAG, Member of the Technology Council of the German Government (1996), Member of the Science Council of the LAVES (2001–2005), Member of the International Research Advisory Council (Alberta, Canada, 2004), Elected Member at Academia Goettingen, Leopoldina, Senator of the DFG, Member of the Steering Committee of the DFG, Member of the Authorizing Committee of the DFG, and Reviewer of the DFG (Fachgutachter), BBSRC, ETH Zurich, The Health Board (Ireland), The Wellcome Trust (UK), Czech Science Foundation, and Österreichischer Jubiläumsfond. His research interests include structural and functional analysis of mammalian genes and genomes, investigating the cause of different economical important genetic defects in livestock and other domesticated animals.
