Osama K. Abou-Zied0000-0003-0497-8412
Dr. Abou-Zied obtained his B.Sc. from Cairo University, Egypt (1988) and his Ph.D. from University of Saskatchewan, Canada in 1995. He worked as a postdoc/research associate in different institutes in the United States before joining Sultan Qaboos University, Oman in 2003 where he is now an Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry. Dr. Abou-Zied and his group investigate the spectroscopy of novel biological probes that can be used to understand certain mechanisms in DNA and proteins. They are particularly interested in studying protein-DNA/ligand binding processes, local hydration, complex rigidity and conformation dynamics. These studies are related to drug transport and design, protein folding and unfolding, and enzyme catalysis.
