Rudrapatna K. Shyamasundar

Rudrapatna K. Shyamasundar received his B.E. degree from the University of Mysore, his M.E. degree from the IISC, and his Ph.D. degree from the IISC in computer science. He did his pdf with Professor Dr. Edsgar W. Dijkstra. He is with the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, and currently serves as a Senior Professor and a JC Bose National Fellow. He was the Founder Dean of the School of Technology and Computer Science. His principle areas of research are specification, design, and verification of reactive and real-time systems, programming languages, logics of programs, formal methods, network, and information security. He has more than 250 publications in refereed journals, conference proceedings, two monographs, and several edited books, and he holds several patents in US and India. He has given several invited talks at various conferences and has guided more than 35 Ph.D. students in India and USA. He was a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the University of Cambridge, under the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK. He has been on the faculty/staff of the Technological University of Eindhoven, IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Utrecht University, The Pennsylvania State University, University of Illinois, University of Linköping, University of California San Diego, and IBM Research. He was instrumental in the setting up of the Center for Formal Design and Verification of Software as a joint center, and he serves as its advisor. He is on the Governing Council of IIIT, Jabalpur, and CSIR Centre C-MMACS, Bangalore. He is a Fellow at IEEE and a Fellow at ACM and serves on IEEE Esterel Standards Committee. He has served as a Distinguished Speaker for IEEE Computer Society and serves as ACM Distinguished Speaker and also serves on the Senior Member Committee. He is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy, Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India, Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, and Fellow of TWAS (Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, Trieste).
