Brian Cox
Brian Cox is an Associate Professor and a Specialist in public health medicine and cancer epidemiology with an honorary degree in mathematics and statistics. He directs the Hugh Adam Cancer Epidemiology Unit, which is funded by Director's Cancer Research Trust, at the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, University of Otago. He also chairs the New Zealand Cancer Control Trust. His research has focused on cancers of the cervix, breast, colon, rectum, lung, and prostate as well as oral cancers and leukaemia. He has been involved in both the development and monitoring of breast and cervical screening in New Zealand, case-control studies of prostate and colorectal cancer, the assessment of prostate cancer screening, and the development of microsimulation models of screening services. He is also interested in the relationship between the epidemiology of cancer and the biological mechanisms of cancer causation.
