Gerly A.C. Brito
Gerly A.C. Brito serves as a Full Professor of histology and embryology at the School of Medicine, Federal University of Ceara, Ceara, Brazil. She serves also as Chief of the Center for Imaging and Morphological Sciences at the Department of Morphology, the Federal University of Ceara, Ceara, Brazil. Brito received her Medical degree from the Federal University of Ceara and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in pharmacology from the same university with two-year training at the University of Virginia. She concluded her Postdoc degree in infectious diseases at the Center for Global Health, School of Medicine, University of Virginia, with a focus on C. difficile induced-intestinal damage. Brito has dedicated her research on gut bacterial toxins, with emphasis on C. difficile toxin A effects on cell viability in the gut. She also has a research focus on inflammatory processes on the intestinal mucosa.
