Takafumi Yokota

Takafumi Yokota was born in Nara, Japan, in 1966. He received the M.D. degree from Tottori University, Tottori, Japan, in 1991, and the Ph.D. degree from Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, in 2000. From 1991 to 1995, he worked as a Resident at Osaka University Hospital and Osaka Medical Center for Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases. From 1995 to 2000, he engaged in research works regarding hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells and hematopoietic environment at Osaka University. In 2000, he served as a Research Associate at Immunobiology and Cancer Program of Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF), Oklahoma City, USA. From 2003 to 2004, he worked as a Senior Research Associate of OMRF. From 2004 to 2008, he occupied the post of a Research Associate at Osaka University. Presently, he works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Hematology and Oncology, Osaka University. He is mainly interested in the development and biology of hematopoietic stem cells, early lymphoid differentiation, and their regulation by mesenchymal cells.
