Xue-Dong Yan

Xue-Dong Yan received his M.S.C.E. and Ph.D. degrees in transportation engineering, respectively, at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL, USA. Between 2007 and 2011, he worked in the Southeastern Transportation Center (STC) as the Research Director. Since January 2010, Yan has been serving as a Full Professor at Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU), Beijing, China, and was appointed as the Vice Dean for School of Traffic and Transportation of BJTU in October 2012. His research expertise includes driving simulation, behavior and human factor, GIS application on traffic engineering, traffic safety and security, statistical analysis, ITS, and traffic simulation. He has conducted multiple granted research projects for the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Florida DOT, Tennessee DOT, University of Tennessee, and Nature and Science Foundation in China. He has published more than 110 journal or conference papers in the fields of transportation and simulation. He created the Advanced Driving Simulator Lab at the University of Tennessee in 2009 and Driving Simulator Lab at Beijing Jiaotong University in 2011. He is currently serving as the Editor-in-Chief for Journal of Transportation Safety & Security and as the Associate Editor for The Open Transportation Journal; he is an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Advances in Transportation Studies, Disaster Advances, Journal of Transportation Technologies, and The Scientific World Journal and is a Committee Member for Transportation Research Board (TRB) and Chinese Intelligent Transportation Association.
