Sean C. Blackwell graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Ill, USA, in 1993, and completed a transitional internship and obstetrics and gynecology residency through Wayne State University (WSU) in Detroit, Mich, USA. He then completed a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at WSU and was on faculty from 2001 to 2006. From 2006 to 2007, he practiced at the Divisions of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Fetal Imaging, William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich, USA. In June 2007, he moved to the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHSC) to become the Principle Investigator for their Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD Maternal Fetal Medicine Units Network Site. He is the Vice Chair for Clinical Research, the Director of the Larry C. Gilstrap M.D. Center for Perinatal and Women’s Health Research, and an Associate Professor at the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences.
