Hiroyuki Shima

Hiroyuki Shima has been an Associate Professor of theoretical condensed matter physics at the Department of Environmental Sciences in University of Yamanashi, Japan, from 2012. He was born in Sapporo (1974) and graduated from Hokkaido University (HU) in Japan (1999). After working as an Assistant Professor at the Division of Applied Physics in HU, he stayed at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona as a Visiting Professor in 2009. His research interests span from condensed matter theory to statistical physics, quantum physics, and environmental physics. He is the first author of the two books: Higher Mathematics for Physics and Engineering published by Springer-Verlag in 2009 and Elastic and Plastic Deformation of Carbon Nanotubes by Pan Stanford Publishing in 2012. The number of original articles written by him exceeds 50 (index by Web of Science), and the h-index amounts to 11.
