Francois Cachat received his M.D. degree from the Medical School of the University of Lausanne, Switzerland in 1991. After training in pediatrics in Switzerland, he completed a fellowship in pediatric nephrology in Charlottesville, Va, USA from 1999 to 2002. He served as a Chief of pediatric nephrology in Worcester, Mass, USA before returning to Lausanne in 2009, where he is a Consultant in pediatric nephrology. He is a Member of the Swiss Board of Pediatrics, the International Society of Nephrology, the Swiss Society against Hypertension, and the International Pediatric Hypertension Association. He is a Regular Reviewer for several medical journals such as Nephrology, Dialysis, Transplantation, the Journal of Pediatric Urology, Pediatric Nephrology, and the Archives of Diseases in Childhood. He specializes in the treatment of children with a variety of kidney diseases, including end-stage renal disease/dialysis/transplantation, hypertension, glomerulonephritis, electrolytes/acid-base disorders, and urological anomalies. His current research interests are hypertension, implementation of guidelines in pediatric nephrology, evidence-based medicine in nephrology, systematic reviews and meta-analysis, and biomarkers of renal diseases such as microalbuminuria.
