M. Angela A. Meireles is a professor of Food Engineering at UNICAMP (University of Campinas), Brazil, where she works since 1983. She holds a PhD in Chem. Eng. from Iowa State University, USA (1982) and both an MSc and a BS degree in Food Engineering from UNICAMP. She has published 130 papers in peer-reviewed journals and made more than 410 presentations at scientific conferences. She supervised 30 PhD dissertations, 26 MSc theses, and 39 undergraduate research projects. Her research is related to the production of extracts of plants by supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and conventional techniques using green solvents. She coordinated scientific exchange projects between UNICAMP and European universities (France, Germany, Holland, and Spain) and coordinated a project that involved 6 Brazilian institutions and a Germany University (TUHH). In 2000–2005, she coordinated a Thematic Project (FAPESP) on SFE applied to the processing of natural products. She coordinated 2 technology transfer projects; she is coordinating 2 research projects as well as two projects in the area of SFC to analyze petroleum in a partnership with PETROBRAS and to analyze food system in a partnership with Waters. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Food and Public Health and the Associate Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Medicinal Plants. She belongs to the editorial boards of The J. of Supercritical Fluids, J. Food Processing Engineering; Recent Patents on Engineering; The Open Chemical Engineering J.; Pharmacognosy Reviews; Food and Bioprocess Technologies; The Open Food Science J.; and The Open Nutraceutical J. From 1994 to 1998, she served as Associate Editor for the journals Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos and Boletim da SBCTA. She edited the book “Extracting bioactive compounds for food products: theory and applications” for CRC Press, which was published in January 2009 (ISBN-13: 978-1-4200-6237-3). She was the Guest Editor of a special issue of The Open Chemical Engineering J.
