Ebba Nexo is a Medical Doctor specialized in clinical biochemistry and with a Doctoral thesis on vitamin B12 binding proteins. Nexo worked at hospitals in Copenhagen and Aarhus, Denmark and spend two years at the Johns Hopkins, USA. Nexo has extensive experience with research evaluation and politics amongst others as the Chairman of the Danish MRC and a Member of European Councils. Currently, Nexo is a Professor and Consultant at the Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. The major research filed of Nexo is development and validation of biomarkers and pathophysiology of such markers. In particular, Nexo has expertise within the following fields. Cobalamin and its binding proteins: worked with purification, characterization, and measurement of cobalamin binding proteins. Amongst others participated in EUREKA-project (2000–2003) and has been a Coordinator for an EU-demonstration project (2002–2006) on holoTC. Epidermal growth factor (EGF) and its receptor: worked with various aspects of the EGF system, in particular in relation to cancer in relation to treatment response and the occurrence of the receptors and ligands of the system (protein and genetic level). Trefoil factors (TFFs): worked with measurement, characterization, and role of TFF.
