Vera Lucia Pereira Chioccola

Vera Lucia Pereira Chioccola graduated in biological sciences from the Mogi das Cruzes University in São Paulo, SP, Brazil. She received a Master's degre in parasitology at the Biomedical Sciences Institute, São Paulo University, Sao Paulo, Brazil. She had a Ph.D. degree in microbiology and immunology at the Federal University of São Paulo, São Paulo, SP, Brazil. Chioccola completed postdoctorate studies in molecular biology of parasites at the Cellular Biology Department of Federal University of São Paulo. She is currently a Research Scientist (level VI) at Adolfo Lutz Institute, São Paulo, SP, Brazil. She is also Head of the Molecular Biology Laboratory of Parasites and Fungi, Parasitology Department, Adolfo Lutz Institute. She is a Leader of one of the groups of the National Directory of Research Groups of the CNPq. Chioccola has experience in parasitology, acting on the following subjects: immunology, molecular, and cell biology with emphasis on diagnosis of Chagas disease (chronic phase and treatment), toxoplasmosis (congenital, cerebral, and ocular infections), visceral and cutaneous leishmaniasis, and opportunistic parasites or fungi related to HIV infection.
