Yuri Galperin

Yuri Galperin received the M.D. degree from the Lenigrad State University (St. Petersburg, Russia) in 1969. From 1970 till 1972, he worked at the Institute for Semiconductors (St. Petersburg, Russia), where he received the Ph.D. degree in condensed matter theory (1970). In 1972, Galperin joined the Ioffe Institute for Physics and Technology (A. F. Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute) in St. Petersburg, Russia. His career has been developed from Junior Researcher to Principal Scientist. In 1980, Galperin received the Ph.D. degree in science (Habilitation) from the Ioffe Institute. Since 1993, Galperin has been a Professor of physics at the University of Oslo, Norway. He was elected as a Member (1996) and a Fellow (2007) of the Royal Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters. He is also a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Theoretical and Computational Nanoscience, and a member of organizing and advisory boards of several international conferences and workshops. Galperin serves as a Referee for several journals and granting agencies. During 2000–2004, he served as a Member and Chairman of NATO Panel for Physical Sciences and Technology. Galperin's research interests include condensed matter theory with a focus on mesoscopic physics, superconductivity, as well as on stationary and nonstationary transport phenomena in materials and devices.
