Ulla Sovio is a Senior Research Associate of applied medical statistics at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK. After receiving an M.S. degree in statistics from the University of Oulu, Oulu, Finland, she worked as a Statistician at Imperial College London, London, UK, where she also completed an M.S. degree in modern epidemiology and a Ph.D. degree in genetic and life course epidemiology. In her Ph.D. project, Solvio studied genetic variation, growth, and metabolic phenotypes in the Northern Finland Birth Cohort 1966. Her current research interests include prediction modeling of adverse pregnancy outcomes (fetal growth restriction, preterm birth, preeclampsia, and stillbirth) and longitudinal modeling of fetal and postnatal growth, as well as maternal obesity, gestational diabetes, and the developmental origins of metabolic disorders, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
