Michael Van Ameringen

Michael Van Ameringen, a holder of M.D. and F.R.C.P.C. degrees, is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neuroscience at the McMaster University in Hamilton, ON, Canada. His research is focused on psychopharmacology of social phobia, generalized anxiety disorder, OCD spectrum disorders, and treatment resistance in anxiety disorders. Other research interests include the epidemiology of PTSD, the use of virtual reality in the treatment of anxiety disorders, and the relationship between ADHD and anxiety disorders. He was also a Member of the Steering Committee for the development of the Canadian Anxiety Disorder Treatment Guidelines Initiative and a Member of the World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry Task Force on Treatment Guidelines for Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders.
