Yin Yeh received his B.S. degree from MIT and Ph.D. degree from Columbia University, Departments of Physics. After postdoctoral positions at Columbia Radiation Laboratory and LLNL, he joined the Department of Applied Science, University of California, Davis, rising to the current position of Professor of Applied Science and Chair of the Designated Emphasis in Biophotonics. He is also an Associate Director of the NSF funded Center for Biophotonics Science and Technology (CBST), and serves on the Executive Committee of the Biophysics Graduate Group at UCD. His area of research is broadly in the field of optical spectroscopy of biological molecules and subcellular systems. His focus is in obtaining information from dynamics of intermolecular processes that will lead to an understanding of structure and function relationships of complex biomolecular systems. His more than 100 publications range from molecular motors, contractility, and membrane dynamics to biomineralization. Over the years, his research has been supported by the NSF, NIH, DOE, and DOI. His associations include the APS, Biophysical Society, AAAS, Sigma Xi, SPIE. Amongst his honors, he was a Roche Foundation Fellow in ETH, Zurich, Senior Research Fellow of JSPS, and an Advisory Professor of East China Normal University. He is also often an invited speaker at forums of the ACS and IEEE.
