Allal Ouhtit has graduated with a Ph.D. degree (honors) from the University Claude Bernard-Lyon-I in France. He is currently the Head of the Department of Genetics within the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University in the Sultanate of Oman. He is an Editor in the Journal of Biomedicine and Biotechnology and a Managing Editor of the Journal frontiers in Bioscience. The research program within his laboratory is focused on three areas: understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the function of the cell adhesion molecules CD44 and CD146 in breast cancer metastasis, function and mechanisms of CD44 in the biology of stem cell niche, and understanding the mechanisms of action of herbal antioxidants in the chemoprevention and chemotherapy of cancer.
