Teuvo Suntio received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology, Espoo, Finland, in 1981 and 1992, respectively. From 1977 to 1991, he worked at Fiskars Power Systems as a Design Engineer and R&D Manager. From 1991 to 1992, he worked at Ascom Energy Systems as an R&D Manager. From 1992 to 1994 Suntio was an entrepreneur in power electronics design consultancy, and from 1994 to 1998 he worked at Efore as a Consultant and Project Manager. Since 1998 he has been a Professor specializing in switched-mode power converter technologies first in the Electronics Laboratory at University of Oulu (Oulu, Finland) and from August 2004 in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Tampere University of Technology (Tampere, Finland). His current research interests include dynamic modeling and control design of switched-mode power converters in DC-DC systems as well as in renewable energy applications. He holds several international patents and has authored more than 200 international scientific journal and conference papers: the book Dynamic Profile of Switched-Mode Converter – Modeling, Analysis and Control, Wiley-VCH, Weinheim, Germany, 2009, as well as two book chapters.
