Smrati Gupta served as a Research Scientist at Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Technical University Dresden, Germany. She received her M.S. degree in chemistry from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur and M.Tech. degree in polymer science and engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in India. She got her Ph.D. degree in polymer chemistry and nanotechnology from Leibniz-Institute of Polymer Research Dresden, Germany in 2008. She has also worked in Polyplex Corporation Ltd. (a packaging film industry) as a Research Scientist. She is the recipient of DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst; German Academic Exchange Service) scholarship, Leibniz-Scholarship and Junior Research Fellowship (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, India). She has been awarded many times for academic excellence in her career. Her research areas are focused on design and synthesis of smart nanomaterials and exploration of their applications in different areas of nanotechnology. She has developed a variety of hybrid polymer brushes for nanosensing, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, and photocatalytic applications. Her research expertise includes polymer synthesis, polymer brushes, surface chemistry, and inorganic nanoparticles.
