Reinhard Alkofer received his Ph.D. degree (summa cum laude) in theoretical physics from the Technical University Munich in 1988. He was awarded for his thesis the Dies Academicus Prize of the Technical University Munich for outstanding Ph.D. and Habilitation theses. He was Postdoc at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and at the Service de Physique Theorique de Centre d’Etudes Nucleaires Saclay. From 1991 to 2005 he was First Assistant and then Extraordinary Professor at the University of Tübingen, T?bingen, Germany. Since 2005 he has been a Full Professor of theoretical subatomic physics at the University of Graz. His research interests focus on strong interactions in continuum quantum field theory, and hereby especially on the infrared domain of quantum chromodynamics (QCD), QCD thermodynamics, hadron structure, and quantum electrodynamics in strong fields.
