Osamu Arakawa received a B.S. degree (1980-1984), an M.S. degree (1984-1986), and a Ph.D. degree (1986-1989) all from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan. From April 1999 till March 2002, he served as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Fisheries, Nagasaki University. Since April 2002, he serves as a Professor at the Faculty of Fisheries, Nagasaki University. Since March 2004, he serves as an Expert Committee Member, Food Safety Commission of Japan. He is specialized in marine toxinology, food hygienic chemistry. He serves as a Member of the Japanese Society of Fisheries Science since 1984, the International Society on Toxinology, since 2002 and the Food Hygienics Society of Japan since 2001. He has published more than 80 journal papers, more than 40 other papers, and two books. He has supervised 23 M.S. students and 4 Ph.D. students.
