George Dimitriadis

George Dimitriadis received his M.D. degree from Athens University Medical School, Greece, in 1975, Ph.D. degree from Athens University Medical School, Greece, in 1984, and D.Phil. degree in biological sciences, University of Oxford, UK, in 1994. He was a Diplomate at the National Board of Examiners in Internal Medicine, Athens, Greece, in 1980. Currently, he is a Professor of medicine (since 2008) and the Chairman of the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine, Research Institute and Diabetes Centre, Athens University Medical School, Attikon University Hospital, Athens, Greece. He was a resident in internal medicine (1978–1980); a Research Fellow in endocrinology and diabetes, Mayo Clinic and Mayo Medical School, Rochester, Minn, USA (1980–1983); a Senior Registrar, 2nd Department of Internal Medicine, Research Institute and Diabetes Centre, Athens University Medical School, Evangelismos General Hospital, Athens, Greece (1983–1986); a Research Fellow, Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford, UK (1986–1988); a Consultant, 1st Department of Internal Medicine, Evangelismos General Hospital, Athens, Greece (1989–1991); an Assistant Professor of medicine, 2nd Department of Internal Medicine, Research Institute and Diabetes Centre, Athens University Medical School, Evangelismos General Hospital, Athens, Greece (1991–2000); and an Associate Professor of medicine, 2nd Department of Internal Medicine, Research Institute and Diabetes Centre, Athens University Medical School, Evangelismos General Hospital, Athens, Greece (2000–2008). His areas of expertise include diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance in hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.
