Xiaohong Qin obtained his B.S. degree in textile engineering from Wuhan Institute of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, and the Ph.D. in textile material from Donghua University, Shanghai, China, in 1999 and 2005, respectively. From 2006 till present, Qin has been serving as an Associate Professor at Donghua University (Lecturer, 2006–2008). He also serves as an Advisor to 6 M.S. candidates and 6 undergraduate students, Coadvisor to 3 doctoral candidates, and Postdoctoral Researcher at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Qin was awarded the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of China Award from the Ministry of Education and the Rising Star Talents Award from Shanghai Committee of Science and Technology, in 2008 and 2009, respectively. His areas of expertise include dynamic model for the electrospinning nanofibers based on effect of surface charge; mechanisms for filtration of electrospinning nanofibers mats; mathematical model, computer simulation, and application of electrospinning nanofibers based on different nozzle structures (needle nozzle and needless nozzle).
