Jian Gao received his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering in 2005 from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China. He spent three years as a Research Fellow at the Spray and Combustion Lab in the University of Hiroshima, Japan, before being assigned to his current position. Jian Gao is currently a Research Associate at the Engine Research Center, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Wiss, USA. He specializes in the field of mechanical engineering: internal combustion engine. His main research interests include X-ray and laser-based diagnostic techniques applied to fuel spray and mixture formation, in-cylinder flow and combustion visualization, modeling and simulating two-phase flow processes, modeling and CFD simulation of engine processes and systems, and engine testing. Dr. Gao published over 20 research papers in international journals such as Combustion & Flame, Energy & Fuels, and International Journal of Automotive Technology. Moreover, he has been a Reviewer at Energy & Fuels, Applied Thermal Engineering, and Journal of Hazardous Materials.
