Mengliang Zhang currently works as an Associate Professor in the Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology at the University of Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark. Dr. Zhang received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in medical science in 1986 and 1991, respectively, in mainland China. In 2001 he received his Ph.D. degree in neuroscience at Lund University, Lund, Sweden. From 2001 to 2004, Zhang worked at the Department of Neural and Behavior Sciences, Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Hershey, Pa, USA, as a Postdoctoral Scholar. Since 2004 he has been working at the present place. His research interests have been focused on the neural circuits and the distribution of certain calcium channels in the central nervous system, the cortical neuronal correlations, and the mechanisms underlying spasticity after spinal cord injury using both neuromorphological and neurophysiological methodologies. Zhang is a Fellow Member of many academic associations, which include the Chinese Society for Neuroscience (CSN), Society for Neuroscience (SFN), and Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS). He is presently a Member of the editorial board of ISRN Neuroscience and BioMed Research International.
