Aurelio Gómez-Cadenas was born in Spain and attended the Universidad de Valencia, Valencia, Spain, with biochemistry major for his college degree. He received his Ph.D. training in plant biology under supervision of Dr. Manuel Talon at Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agrarias also in Spain. Then, he did postdoc work in plant hormone signal transduction under the guidance of Professor Tuan-hua David Ho at the Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis, Mo, USA. After that, he joined the Universitat Jaume I de Castellon in Spain as a faculty member where he serves as a Full Professor currently. His research effort has been centered on the elucidation of physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying 1) plant responses to environmental stresses such as drought, salinity, and flooding and 2) hormonal regulation of seed dormancy/germination. His group has also gained knowledge on analytical methods to simultaneously quantify different plant hormones and to develop a metabolomics platform.
