Rafael Vargas-Bernal received a B.S. degree from Universidad de Guanajuato, Salamanca, GTO, México, in 1995. He then received both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica (INAOE), Tonantzintla, PUE, Mexico, in 1997 and 2000, respectively. From 2000 to 2001, he joined the Electronics Engineering Department in Universidad de Guanajuato, and in 2002, he was appointed as a Professor and Researcher at Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Irapuato (ITESI), Irapuato, GTO, Mexico. From 2002 to 2010, joined the Department of Electronics Engineering at ITESI. From 2010 until now, he works in the Department of Materials Engineering at ITESI. Vargas-Bernal has authored 6 book chapters, 6 journal articles, and around 80 conference papers. He regularly serves as a Reviewer in the following journals: Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical (Elsevier), Nanoscale (RSC), IEEE Journal of Sensors (IEEE), and IEEE Latin America Transactions (IEEE). His research interests include nanomaterials, modeling and simulation of linear and nonlinear circuits and systems, gas sensors, composites polymer-carbon nanotubes applied to electronics, biosensors, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), nanomedicine.
