Akira Matsuno is a Vice-Director of Teikyo University Chiba Medical Center and Professor and Chairman of neurosurgery and Director of Stroke Center, Teikyo University Chiba Medical Center. He received the M.D. and the Ph.D. degrees from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo, in 1983 and 1992, respectively. He is Board Certified Neurosurgeon and Councilor of the Japan Neurosurgical Society, Board Certified Doctor of Japanese Headache Society, Tentative Instructor of Clinical Oncology of Japanese Board of Cancer Therapy, and Board Certified Doctor of Japanese Society for Neuroendoscopy. He is a Member of the Editorial Board of Progress in Computed Imaging, Editorial Board of BRAIN and NERVE, Editorial Board of Acta Histochem Cytochem (Official Journal of the Japanese Society of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry) and Editorial Member of Neurological Surgery. He is Vice-President-elect, the Japan Society for Hypothalamic and Pituitary Tumors, 2009; Director and Scientific Manager of the Japan Brain Foundation; Director of the Japan Society for Hypothalamic and Pituitary Tumors; Director of the Japanese Society of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry; Director of the Japan Endocrine Pathology Society.
