Alvaro J. Pardey

Alvaro Pardey received the B.S. degree in chemistry from the Universidad Los Andes, Mérida Venezuela, in 1975 and the Ph.D. degree in inorganic chemistry from the University of California-Santa Barbara, Calif, USA, in 1986. Since 1992, he is a Titular Full Professor at the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas, Venezuela, where he is leading a research group working in homogeneous catalysis, inorganic kinetics, and inorganic reaction mechanisms. Pardey was a Chief of Chemistry Department, Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas and Maracay, Venezuela (1993–1996). In addition, he receives the Academic Excellent Award: Order “José María Vargas” First Class from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 2000, the Research Excellent Award: Order “Francisco de Venanzi” from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 2007. He is also accredited by the Steering Committee on Promotion System for Researchers, Ministry of Science and Technology of Venezuela, as a Member of the program in the highest category of Researcher Level IV in 2006. He was a Visiting Professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Pisa, Italy from 2000 to 2001. He was the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Venezuelan Catalysis Society (2005–2008). Moreover, he is currently a Member of the Editorial Board of The Open Catalysis Journal. He has authored over 80 papers.
