Haruki Komatsu
Haruki Komatsu was born in Iwate, Japan, in 1965. He graduated from National Defense Medical College and gained the M.D. degree in 1992. From 1992 to 1994, Komatsu was a Junior Resident in National Defense Medical College Hospital. From 1995 to 1996, he was an Assistant in the Department of Pediatrics in Yamagata University. From 1997 to 1999, Komatsu was a Senior Resident in the Department of Pediatrics in National Defense Medical College. From 1999 to 2003, Komatsu was a Ph.D. degree student. He researched pediatric viral hepatitis during the Ph.D. course. In 2000, Komatsu received the Young Investigation Award in World Congress of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (Boston, Mass, USA). In 2004, Komatsu got his Ph.D. degree at National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation. Between 2001 and 2002, Komatsu was a Research Assistant in University of Oxford (Professor Paul Klenerman). During 2004 and 2006, Komatsu was a Medical Officer in the 10th Division of National Ground Defense Force. From 2006 to 2007, Komatsu was an Assistant in the Department of Pediatrics, Toho University Sakura Medical Center. Since 2007, Komatsu has been a Senior Doctor in Department of Pediatrics of Eastern Yokohama Hospital. His present position is Vice Director of Department of Pediatrics. Komatsu received Japanese Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases Research Award in 2007 and Hepatology Research Award in 2010.
