José M. Labeaga

José M. Labeaga is Professor of economics at the Open University in Madrid. He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in economics by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain. He has served for the Spanish Government as General Director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies during the period 2008–2012, and he was Director of the Chair FEDEA-BBVA on New Consumers during the period 2006–2008 at FEDEA, Foundation for Applied Economic Research. He teaches at the Open University Microeconomics at the Economics Graduate and Microeconometrics at the Ph.D. Program. He also teaches econometrics methods for business research at the Doctorate in Economics, Management, and Organization Program (awarded with a mention of quality) at Autonomous University of Barcelona and panel data, methods, and applications at several M.S. and Ph.D. Programs. He has been visiting Researcher at University College London, Centre for Applied Microeconomics of the University of Copenhagen and UNU Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology of the Maastricht University. His main research interests rely on applied microeconometric models (to labor supply, consumption, and demand), microsimulation, and ex-ante evaluation of programs as well as ex-post or impact evaluation of public policies in several fields as health, education, or taxation.
