Ghassan Chehab is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the American Univeristy of Beirut (AUB), Beirut, Lebanon. He earned a B.E. degree in civil and environmental engineering and an M.S. degree in engineering management from the AUB in 1996 and 1998, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. degree in transportation materials from North Carolina State University, NC, USA in 2002. Ghassan joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the AUB as an Assistant Professor in 2009, after serving as an Assistant Professor at the Pennsylvania State University for 5 years, and as infrastructure research engineer at the Indiana Department of Transportation (USA) in 2004. His areas of teaching and research include characterization of construction materials, sustainability in construction, recycled materials, pavement design and management, pavement product evaluation, construction material management, in addition to accelerated and nondestructive testing. Ghassan is currently working under funding from the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research on the development of a national plan for the construction of demolition waste management. Dr. Chehab authored or coauthored numerous papers, reports, and textbook chapters in the areas of materials modeling, recycled materials, and pavement design. He delivered several presentations at national and international conferences and is an active Member of professional societies and organizations including ASCE, ASTM, ISAP, and TRB. He is a Member of the Lebanese Order of Engineers and holds an E.I.T. License from USA.
