Dong Qiu was awarded his Ph.D. degree majored in materials science and engineering from Tsinghua University, China, in July 2005. He has been working in the University of Queensland (UQ), St Lucia, Australia, as a Full-Time Researcher, since September 2005. He was subsequently awarded UQ Postdoctoral Research Fellow, from 2008 to 2009 and the Australian Research Fellow (ARC-ARF), from 2010 to 2014. Dr Qiu is an active early-career researcher on phase transformations in metals and alloys, in particular interphase crystallography and its role on the heterogeneous nucleation during solidification and on the morphological anisotropy of product phase during solid-solid phase transformations.
