Lawrence Shah is a Research Professor at the Laser Plasma Laboratory (LPL) in the Townes Laser Institute, in CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL, USA, since 2012. Shah received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in optical physics from the University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL, USA, as a Member of LPL in 1999 and 2001, respectively. Prior to rejoining UCF, Shah served as a Postdoc Research in LLNL and as a Research Scientist in IMRA America Inc., developing solid-state and fiber laser systems as well as novel laser applications. Since rejoining LPL, Shah has been a Group Leader for the development of Tm:fiber and Yb:YAG thin-disk laser systems. Shah has been awarded ten patents and has authored over thirty peer-reviewed publications on high-power solid-state and fiber laser systems and their applications.
