L. J. Cheskin, M.D., F.A.C.P., is the Founder and Director of the Johns Hopkins Weight Management Center, a multidisciplinary obesity treatment and clinical research program in Baltimore, USA. He works as an Associate Professor of health, behavior and society, with a joint appointment in International Health Program of Human Nutrition at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health as well as holding a joint appointment in medicine (gastroenterology) at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Previously, he directed the Division of Gastroenterology, the Nutrition Support Service, and the Gastroenterology Fellowship Training Program at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center; he continues as an Active Staff Member there and at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He has published 85 articles on obesity and related subjects and contributed over 40 book chapters and monographs. He has (co)authored 5 books titled Losing Weight for Good, Healing Heartburn, New Hope for People with Weight Problems, Three Steps to Weight Loss, and Recipes for Weight Loss. He is the recipient of a number of grants for obesity research, and he serves as a Reviewer for various peer-reviewed journals and consults for several publishers, boards, organizations, and corporations. He has received a number of honors, including the Physician Nutrition Specialist Award. He is a sought-out Speaker on nutrition and obesity, as well as a popular figure in press coverage on the subject.
