Marek Lefik works as an Associate Professor at the Technical University of Lódz, Lódz, Poland; Vice Dean for sciences at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering; Head of the Department of Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Structures. Dr. Lefik obtained an M.S. degree in civil engineer; an M.S. degree at the Technical University of Lódz (TUL), in 1977; a Ph.D. degree at TUL, with a thesis on some applications of asymptotic analysis in theory of composite plates. He also completed his Habilitation at TUL in 2006, on applications of artificial neural networks in mechanics and engineering. His research areas include asymptotic methods in theoretical and applied mechanics; theory of materials with microstructure (composites), constitutive modeling; numerical methods in mechanics of continua and mechanics of structures, finite element method; modeling of coupled thermomechanical behavior of cable-like composites for superconducting magnets; artificial Intelligence, in particular theory and practical applications of artificial neural networks in mechanics; expert programs in engineering and mechanics.
