Laszlo Czako was born in Szeged, Hungary, in January 5, 1966. He studied at the Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical University, Szeged, Hungary, from 1984 to 1990. He obtained an M.D. degree (score: excellent, summa cum laude) in 1990, Ph.D. degree in pancreatology (score: excellent, summa cum laude) in 1999, and Habilitation degree (medical Habilitation) from the University of Szeged, Hungary, 2005. He serves as an Assistant Professor and First Assistant Professor at the First Department of Medicine, the University of Szeged from 1995 to 2002 and from 2003 to 2009, respectively. He has been acting as an Associate Professor at the same department since 2009. His fields of interest include physiology and pathophysiology of pancreas, acute and chronic pancreatitis, gastrointestinal hormones, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, genetics of gastrointestinal diseases, and diabetes mellitus.
