Jayanta Pandit, holder of an M.Pharm degree and a Ph.D. degree, works at the Department of Pharmaceutics, IIT, BHU, Varanasi, India, teaching B.Pharm and M.Pharm students and guiding Ph.D. since 1980. He served as Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics, IT-BHU, for a full term of 3 years from February 1, 2005 to January 31, 2008, as PI of 6 research projects, and as member/chairman of various statutory committees of the department and university. Pandit completed 6 research projects funded by UGC, DST, AICTE, and ICMR as PI. He is engaged in interdepartmental research with Department of Microbiology, IMS, BHU, Dental Faculty, IMS, BHU, Department of Ophthalmology, IMS, BHU, School of Material Science and Technology IT-BHU, and School of Biochemical Engineering, IT-BHU. His current research area is nanotechnology particulate-based drug delivery systems. Pandit serves as peer reviewer of national/international journals including Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Current Drug Delivery, Expert Opinion on Drug Metabolism and Toxicology, Expert Opinion on Drug Delivery, International Journal of Pharmaceutics, Drug Delivery, Pharmaceutical Development and Technology, and Nanomedicine: Nanotechnology, Biology, and Medicine. He published 120 research papers and review articles in peer-reviewed national and international journals. He was awarded the Best Research Publication in Indian Drugs by the Indian Drug Manufacturers Association and served as Chairman/Cochairman of Pharmaceutical Technology session of IPC, Manipal (1990), Pune (2002), and Vishakhapatnam (1995).
