Wann-Nian Tzeng

Wann-Nian Tzeng obtained the Ph.D. degree from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 1980. He became a Full Professor of the National Taiwan University (NTU), Taipei, Taiwan, in 1985. He served as the Director of the Institute of Fisheries Science, NTU, from 2008 to 2010. He got the honorary title of a Distinguished Professor of NTU between 2007 and 2010. He retired from NTU in 2010 and then became a Chair Professor at the Department of Environmental Biology and Fisheries Science, National Taiwan Ocean University, Keelung, Taiwan. He has got the academic awards of the National Father Dr. Sun Yat-Sen for Fish Biology in 1991, Outstanding Research Awards of National Science Council, Taiwan, between 2002 and 2005, Distinguished Professor of NTU from 2007 to 2010, and the Outstanding Scholar Research Project of National Science Council, Taiwan from 2009 to 2012. He is an Expert of Japanese eel and mullet. He published a lot of papers concerning the migratory environmental history of the eel by using the otolith microchemistry as a proxy.
